Curse me for looking for a good Vegas deal! It sucks waiting so long for the trip. I’m going at the end of April, and all I’m doing is waiting. I’ve pretty much put everything on hold until I go. So in the meantime, like always, I’ve been watching TV and reading alot. I actually saw a surprisingly good movie. Simone was a better movie than I’d thought it would be. I just have a low opinion of Pacino’s movies nowadays so maybe it’s just a little bit better than his normal stuff. And I’m in love with the Simone actress, so that might have something to do with it also. She did a damn good job considering this is her first movie. (At least according to imdb)
I also got this great book called “Bringing down the house” I’m only about half way through it, but it’s an amazing true story. It’s about a group of MIT kids that came up with card counting methods and took the casinos for a LOT of money. Warning, causes lots of dreaming about being rich!
It’s been maybe about a month since the last time I went to a casino. Out of the blue, last night i had some weirdo dream. I went to Mohegan Sun to play baccarat. In my head I thought, for some reason, “For reasons of Karma, I’ll give Gary (my coworker) half my winnings” I’ve had this feeling lately that I’m a little negative on the Karma scale because I’ve had so much good luck lately. So I guess this dream was a “karma-neutral” method to play at luck. So I woke up at 4AM. Got dressed and took off to Mohegan Sun. Played one complete shoe, and came out 600 bucks ahead! As I promised my brain, I called Gary, told him to buy me a steak with his 300 bucks in winnings! So that makes it a grand total of me being up 2420 after 6 casino trips (Not counting the 300 commission to Gary. That’s a nice little bankroll to visit Vegas with!
Got back from Brownsville last thursday. Didn’t really write about it, ’cause it sucked. Well, it was Ok, but I didn’t stay at the beach, so the water I bathed in was all hard. So i feel gross throughout the day (on top of the 1001% humidity. Gotta shower twice a day and you still feel kinda funky. Seems like a minor thing, but that was the only major difference between the last time I went (and had a good time) and this time. So I blame everything on the water! Wasn’t worth the cost of the ticket, although Mohegan did pay for it! ![]()
Been a relatively uneventful 2 weeks, which I like. Believe it or not, I haven’t gone to a casino at all. People were thinking I was already a gambling addict. (Although when Daniel and Eric were here, we did end up going to the casinos twice in one week, and I’m up $2120 at this point) but I think it’s like smoking for me. It’s nice, but if I have to, I can do without. Then again, I am planning a trip to Vegas!!
It’s already March, and we just got 6 inches of damn snow a couple days ago. Mario in Brownsville is already wearing shorts, and Spring Break starts for him next week. In a fit of spontaneity, last weekend I bought a ticket down there for this coming monday (10th) Since Mario is actually on vacation, I’ll have someone to hang out with all day. On top of that, my whole family will be out of town, so it doesn’t look like I’ll have any obligations on that end. I can’t wait for the warmth!
Additionally, I’ve never been to Las Vegas, so I’m planning a trip right now for May. Going with my coworker Gary who knows his way around Vegas. I plan to learn the specifics for casino poker, so I can play in the rooms here and not look like an idiot. Gotta hit the Bellagio, they actually have Kobe-Wagyu beef on the buffet there!! My mouth is already watering from my Kobe beef memories from Bouley.
